About the artist

Born in 1949, I had never used my drawing abilities except on very rare occasions, and always as an amateur. But at the ripe age of 55, discovering there is more to life than marketing and sales of industrial services, and with the help of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software, the door opens to a new world of creativity.

My concept of what Art should be is influenced by what was prevailing in the Middle Ages. During the centuries before the Renaissance, there were no artists. The artistic creation was performed by craftsmen, and they were part of the building team, and they were mostly anonymous. Yet what these craftsmen created was more simple, more moving, pure and powerful than the flamboyant masterpieces of the Renaissance. In those days, Art had a function, was useful, and artists were no stars, they were asked to decorate. Their work was part of a grandiose creation built over decades by a large number of people. The stunning and overwhelming power of the cathedrals and abbeys they built will last for ever.

About the work

My own work is individualistic, and therefore minuscule. But it is useful for me and, I hope for others as well. Its purpose is to look at the very common things surrounding us and extrapolate them into situations that make you laugh or smile. "A chacun sa grandeur", but laughing and smiling are certainly precious to me.
