About the artist

I was born in Washington and raised in California. I have a BFA from ArtCenter in Pasadena, CA and I live in Santa Cruz, CA. Art for me is an expression of my imagination and never being able to sit still. It's taken me a long time to learn how to focus this energy. I have a very active imagination and drawing grounds me. I feel very fortunate to have wonderful clients and subjects to draw from. Dogs Rule!

About the work

I approach my subjects from an honorable viewpoint. I like the view from just under the chin staring directly into the eyes, respecting their space. I work from my own photographs when ever possible. I like to work on a larger than normal scale, 52"x70" and bigger. I work in charcoal because of the instant gratification of making marks and the values and contrast you can make in b/w.
